India defeated Australia and New Zealand beat South Africa in the top-four clashes of Champions Trophy 2025. Here’s how the semi-final results of the tournament have affected the ICC Men's ODI team rankings.
In the first semi-final in Dubai on Tuesday (March 4), India defeated Australia by four wickets to secure their place in the tournament final for the third consecutive time. Batting first, Australia were bowled out for 264 on an ageing spin-conducive surface, on which India’s tweakers called the shots, with Varun Chakravarthy (2-49), Axar Patel (1-43) and Ravindra Jadeja (2-40) rising to the occasion. Virat Kohli spearheaded the chase with his 98-ball 84 to take India to the final.
New Zealand took on South Africa in the other knockout clash on Wednesday (February 5). They posted 362-6 batting first, a record in the tournament. Rachin Ravindra became the quickest to five hundreds in global ODI events with his 108, while Kane Williamson continued his fine form with 102. South Africa put on a spirited response but it wasn’t enough as they succumbed to a 50-run loss. David Miller smashed the fastest Champions Trophy hundred off 67 balls but it eventually went in vain.
David Miller walked out to bat at No.6 when South Africa needed 196 in 128 deliveries to win the Champions Trophy semi-final.
