
India announced their squad for the Champions Trophy today (January 18), starting next month. Read more here.
At a press conference at the Wankhede Stadium, captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced the squad for the Champions Trophy, as well as the three-match ODI series against England just preceding that.
After a two-hour delay caused by a "last-minute meeting", it finally emerged that India had named star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for the Champions Trophy, after a back injury he picked up in Australia had put his participation in the competition in doubt.

Agarkar and Rohit were unable to provide further updates on Bumrah's fitness, but Harshit Rana was named in the squad for the ODI series against England, in his place.
In a surprise move, pacer Mohammed Siraj has been left out of the squad, with Arshdeep Singh preferred to him. Mohammed Shami also made a return to action, after an injury had kept him out of international cricket since the 2023 World Cup.
A total of four spinners have been selected – one specialist in Kuldeep Yadav and three all-rounders in Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja. Opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, yet to make his ODI debut, is also part of the squad.
Vidarbha batter Karun Nair, in blistering form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, has not made it to the Champions Trophy squad, as expected. Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, thought be another outside shout for the tournament, did not make it either.
