
Virat Kohli has inched closer to the top of the ODI rankings in ICC's latest updates, while one star Afghanistan all-rounder has replaced another at No.1.
India players make gains
Following a match-winning 84 against Australia in the semi-final of the 2025 Champions Trophy, Kohli has risen up to No.4 in the ICC ODI rankings, going past compatriot Rohit Sharma in the process, who has slipped two places to No.5.
Shubman Gill has maintained his position at the top of the batting rankings despite two back-to-back failures against New Zealand and Australia. Shreyas Iyer, who has made consistent runs in the 2025 Champions Trophy is now up by one spot to eighth.
Among bowlers, Mohammed Shami, who picked three wickets in the semi-final against Australia has moved up three places to 11th while Axar Patel has moved up seven spots to joint 40th. Varun Chakravarthy, who took five against New Zealand and two against Australia in what were his second and third ODIs respectively, has risen a whopping 143 spots to be joint 96th.

Azmatullah Omarzai crowned No.1
The Afghan all-rounder who lit up the group stages of the 2025 Champions Trophy with his big hitting down the order and wicket-taking abilities, has displaced his teammate and former captain Mohammad Nabi from the top of the ICC ODI all-rounders' rankings. Omarzai now sits at 296 rating points, a four-point advantage over Nabi. Opening batter Ibrahim Zadran, following his record-breaking 177 against England, has risen 13 spots to enter the top 10 of batting rankings.
New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner has also risen a spot in the all-rounder rankings to enter the top five, while India's Axar Patel has moved up by 17 spots to 13th following his impressive outings with both bat and ball. Hardik Pandya has moved up three places to 21st as well.
Among bowlers, Matt Henry (up three spots to third) and Keshav Maharaj (up two spots to second) are the two big movers at the top of the ODI bowling rankings. Kuldeep Yadav has slipped out of the top three to drop to sixth, meanwhile.
