New Zealand set India a target of 252 in the 2025 Champions Trophy final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
After being 69-1 in the powerplay, New Zealand struggled to score quickly against the Indian spin quartet of Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel in the middle overs. A late surge eventually took them to 251-7.
While not exactly a low-scoring venue, the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, one of two ODI venues at the city, has not had a successful chase of 300 in ODIs yet. Sri Lanka’s 287-8 (chasing 285) against Pakistan in 2013 remains the record. India’s 267-6 (chasing 265) is the fourth-best. India will have to pull off the fifth-highest chase here.

What about Champions Trophy finals?
The final of the 2002 Champions Trophy was abandoned even after being replayed. Of the other seven, the last two – in 2013 and 2017 – were won by the sides batting first. Until 2009, thus, chasing teams lifted the title.
The highest successful chase in a Champions Trophy final came in 2000 between the same two sides, when New Zealand chased down 265 to win their first global trophy. The other targets have been below what India will be chasing tonight.
