Fireworks light up the sky during the inauguration ceremony of the renovated Gaddafi Cricket Stadium in Lahore on February 7, 2025, ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan opened a renovated stadium for the Champions Trophy in Lahore on Friday, one of three to be used when it hosts its first major international cricket event in almost 30 years. The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will run from 19 February to 9 March

The 2025 Champions Trophy, jointly hosted by Pakistan and UAE, begins on February 19. Here’s the venue-wise breakdown of the schedule, stadium capacity and more.

The tournament returns to the scene after a hiatus of eight years; Pakistan won the last edition in 2017. Since its inception in 1998, the tournament was played every two years till 2009 after which it was moved to a four-year cycle. India were supposed to host the 2021 edition but it was replaced by the 2021 T20 World Cup, which was eventually played in the UAE.

For the first time since the 1996 ODI World Cup, Pakistan are set to host an ICC tournament. They were supposed to host the 2008 Champions Trophy but the tournament was postponed to 2009 in South Africa due to security concerns.

Initially, Pakistan won the hosting rights for the tournament entirely, but India’s reluctance to travel to their neighbours due to longstanding foreign policy resulted in a hybrid model, with India playing their matches in Dubai.
