Batting first, Lahore scored 162-7 with Rassie van der Dussen top-scoring (64 off 44). Afridi promoted himself to No.5 and played a quick cameo, hitting four sixes en route to 30 off 14, providing impetus to the innings.
Earlier in Lahore’s innings, Naseem had started the game with a maiden over, making the new ball talk. He finished with figures of 1-30 off his four overs.
In response, Islamabad collapsed. By the time they reached 38, they lost six wickets and were all but out of the chase. Naseem Shah came out to bat at No.9 with the team score reading 73. Like Afridi in the first innings, he played a quick cameo as well. In fact, he took on his senior in the Pakistan side, and hit him for two back-to-back sixes in the 16th over.
The first was a beautiful inside-out lofted drive over wide long-off, followed by a slice behind point. The next ball, however, Shaheen got his man with a full delivery aimed at the stumps from around the wicket, bringing an end to an action-packed sequence.
After dismissing him, Shaheen ran up to Naseem in his follow through, laughed with him, and put his arm around the young speedster. He then tapped on his head several times, congratulating him for his knock as Naseem walked away towards the dressing room having scored 27 off 16.
Shaheen eventually finished with figures of 2-32 as Islamabad were bowled out for 145, losing the game by 17 runs.
