Watch: Saud Shakeel played an extraordinary no-look flick for six off Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Pakistan Super League, walking off the pitch as he did so.
The Pakistan international continued his excellent start to life as a Quetta Gladiators opener, having hit 74 off 47 on his PSL debut yesterday (Sunday, February 18).
He played another brisk knock against reigning champions Lahore Qalandars, hitting 40 off 23 to kick-start his side’s chase of 188. The highlight was his sole six off Shaheen Shah Afridi. The Pakistan captain bowled way outside off stump – had Shakeel stayed put, it may have been called wide – but was still sent over fine leg for a six. Shakeel moved across and played an extraordinary no-look flick, sending the ball into the stands even as he kept walking off the pitch.
Shakeel has had a stellar start to life in Test cricket, averaging over 60 in his first 10 Tests, but hasn’t lit up white-ball cricket in the same way. He averages less than 30 from 15 ODIs, while his half-century on Sunday was his third in 40 T20 appearances.
