Watch: Sherfane Rutherford somehow held onto a catch despite having to deal with Saud Shakeel colliding with him during Quetta Gladiators’ Pakistan Super League fixture against Islamabad United.
Islamabad United had built their way to 69-1 in the eighth over, with Alex Hales and Agha Salman both teeing off, but Colin Munro was yet to get going, scoring at under a run a ball as he aimed a big shot at Abrar Ahmed.
Munro mistimed the ball to such an extent that the ball flew within reach of not one, but two of Quetta Gladiators’ fielders, and it seemed his only chance was if the two got in each other’s way.
They almost did, with a miscommunication leaving both Rutherford and Shakeel going for the ball. Rutherford just held on as he was clattered, and it was all smiles soon after with both avoiding injury.
Islamabad United couldn’t build on their strong start, finishing on 138-9. Quetta Gladiators came into the game with two wins from two, while Islamabad United have one win and one defeat thus far.
