Watch: Naseem Shah, playing his second top-level game since his return from injury, bowled a peach of an inswinger to peg back Dawid Malan’s middle stump in the Pakistan Super League today (Tuesday, February 20).
The Pakistan quick came into the Pakistan Super League on the back of a lengthy lay-off, following a shoulder injury sustained during an Asia Cup game against India. The 21-year-old subsequently missed Pakistan’s entire Cricket World Cup campaign, with the Babar Azam-led side failing to make the semi-finals.
In recent weeks, Naseem’s comeback trail has stepped up, with the right-armer spotted bowling in the nets and in low-level games, and he featured in Islamabad United’s first game of the season against Lahore Qalandars. Naseem had a middling outing in a high-scoring encounter, taking 1-36 in his four overs, his one wicket coming in the penultimate over of the innings.
In his second appearance, he showed his devastating new-ball skills. Handed the first over as Islamabad United attempted to defend 144, he had Mohammad Rizwan dropped at cover off his first ball before bowling Malan with his fourth, the ball hooping back in to pass between bat and pad to smash middle stump.
