The 22-year-old pitched a 140kph delivery up to the Namibia international, whose booming drive failed to make contact as the ball ducked back in to bowl him through the gate.

Danny Morrison called it an “absolute peach” on commentary, while Wiese let his arms fall in resignation and walked off with his middle stump lying flat on the ground.

It came at an important moment in the game as Hasnain and co looked to keep the Qalanders below 200 with three overs remaining after a brisk start.

They finished on 198-6, with Hasnain taking 1-32 from his four overs, out-performing fellow promising Pakistan quick Naseem Shah who was expensive and went wicketless. The pair do appear to be one-upping each other, after Naseem bowled Karachi Kings’ James Vince with a similarly brilliant inswinger and knocked over Rovman Powell with a perfect yorker against Peshawar Zalmi.

Hasnain also impressed in Quetta Gladiators’ game against Peshawar, taking 3-14, to round off a bright few weeks for the quick: He played his first ODI in almost two years against New Zealand last month.

The quick right-armer showed his promise with a five-wicket haul against Zimbabwe in 2020, but has struggled to establish himself since amid a seemingly endless conveyor belt of young Pakistani quicks.

Another seemed to join the list yesterday after a three-wicket-over for Multan Sultans against Islamabad United for 21-year-old Abbas Afridi.
