Lahore Qalandars made 187-7 after Shaheen Shah Afridi won the toss and opted to bat. Opener-wicketkeeper Sahibzada Farhan slammed 61 in 43 balls, while Jahandad Khan blasted a 17-ball unbeaten 45. For Quetta Gladiators, Akeal Hosein returned 2-17 from four overs.

Saud Shakeel (40 in 23 balls out of an opening stand of 69) led the response for the tourists. His innings ended when Zaman Khan, who has earned a reputation for nailing the yorker, unleashed one of his best.

Bowling from over the wicket, Zaman swung the ball into the left-handed Shakeel. So accurate was the yorker that it landed below the bat and hit the stumps.

The Quetta batters kept the charge on despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Playing in his second match in his debut PSL season, 22-year-old Khawaja Nafay (60 not out in 31 balls) sealed the match for Quetta with five balls to spare. This was his fifth Twenty20 match: he had scored five, six, two, and six not out in his four previous appearances.

It remained Zaman’s only wicket of the match. He finished with 1-27 from 3.1 overs.
