The six franchises in PSL 2024 (also known as PSL 9) are defending champions Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans.

Like last time, a total of 34 matches will be played in the tournament, across Karachi, Multan, Rawalpindi and Lahore. Following a double round-robin league, the top four teams will feature in the playoffs. After the Qualifier and the two Eliminators, the final will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 18.

Lots of overseas players have already withdrawn from PSL 2024 for various reasons, leading to last-minute headaches for franchises. Among those set to either partially or completely miss the tournament after having been initially named in the squads are Tabraiz Shamsi, Jamie Overton, Lungi Ngidi and Wanindu Hasaranga.

While most teams have retained their captains from the previous edition, there has been a change of charge at the helm for Quetta Gladiators. Sarfaraz Ahmed has been replaced by the competition’s most successful overseas batter, Rilee Rossouw, as the Gladiators’ captain ahead of the new season. Although Sarfaraz was named as the official skipper of the side at the PSL draft in December, his eight-year stint in the role has ended.
