Watch: Sharjeel Khan made a U-turn after a spectacularly slow start to make a 55-ball hundred in the Pakistan Super League game between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United, smashing Shadab Khan for four back-to-back sixes in the process.
The Rahul Tewatia knock that enthralled fans in IPL 2020 received competition from Pakistan’s discarded opener Sharjeel Khan in a PSL game at the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday.
Tewatia went from 8 off 19 balls to hit five sixes in an over and finish on 53 off 31 balls in Rajasthan Royals’ successful run-chase against Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020. He later termed his start as the “worst 20 balls” that he ever played. Sharjeel Khan endured an eerily similar start, albeit in the first innings, making just 7 off his first 18 balls before going berserk. Off his 19th ball, Sharjeel hit a four off Shadab Khan and in the leg-spinner’s next over, smashed four back-to-back sixes to go to 45 off 27 balls. Despite his heroics, he ended up on the losing side.
