Chasing 144 to win, the Qalandars seemed to have lost their way after being reduced to 97-4 in the 15th over. With 23 to win off two overs, Hasan Ali produced a terrific penultimate over, where he dismissed Ben Dunk and conceded just one run until the final delivery which Tim David smashed for a six.
Even then, the seven-run over had made Islamabad United favourites in the final over. With all quicks having run out of overs, Shadab Khan tossed the ball to part-timer Hussain Talat. With 16 runs to take, Rashid, who had just walked in the previous over, smashed his first three balls – also the first three balls of the over – for boundaries to bring the equation down to four required off three balls. The Afghanistan leggie finished off the game, remaining unbeaten on 15 off five balls.
