With sporting events being called off across the globe due to the coronavirus pandemic, how competition winners should be settled upon has been up for debate.
On Tuesday, with the cancellation of the Sheffield Shield final, New South Wales were declared winners, having held a 12-point lead in the table during the regular season.

And while the PCB has announced that the knockout stages of the PSL have been postponed and are to be scheduled, Multan Sultans’ Ravi Bopara has come up with his own interesting solution.

“As the elderly are more vulnerable to the Coronavirus it’s only fair the oldest average age team in the @thePSLt20 take the trophy. #PSL5 @MultanSultans,” joked Bopara on Twitter, seemingly looking to boost the hopes of an aging Multan squad.
The Sultans reached the semi-finals but succumbed to a nine-wicket defeat to Lahore Qalandars in their final group match on Sunday.
Funnily enough, it was Lahore who were the elderly on this occasion, with their XI’s average age of 30 beating out Multan’s average age of 28!
Perhaps it’ll be worth settling it out on the field after all.
