The opening game of the league will be played between Vancouver Knights and Toronto Nationals in Ontario. It will be the first of 21 league games scheduled to take place in the fourth edition of the GT20 Canada.
The first round will continue till August 7, following which the playoffs will be held. Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be played on August 9, followed by the Qualifier 2 a day later. The final of the tournament is scheduled to be played on August 11.
All games of the tournament will take place at the CAA Centre in Ontario. While the first game of the day will begin from 11am local time, the second games will be from 4pm.
The competition was first held in 2018 and returned the following year. However, it was later postponed for three years and returned only last year, when Montreal Tigers were crowned the champions.
Several big names will play for the six sides, including David Warner, Marcus Stoinis, Mohammad Amir, Rassie van der Dussen and Sunil Narine. Ahead of the tournament, the GT20 was in the news after the Pakistan Cricket Board disallowed Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi from taking part citing a hectic schedule ahead.
Without accounting for travel Pakistan will be on the cricket field roughly once every 78 hours for the next seven months.
