ECB has announced the squads for England Women's white-ball tour of Ireland next month.
England are coming off back-to-back home white-ball series against New Zealand and Pakistan. They beat Pakistan 3-0 in the T20Is and 2-0 in the ODIs after one was washed out, before defeating New Zealand 3-0 in the ODIs and 5-0 in the T20I series.
IRE vs ENG: When does the Ireland tour start?
Up next is a white-ball tour of Ireland, which starts from September 7. There will be three ODIs in Belfast, followed by two T20Is in Dublin. Ireland beat Sri Lanka 2-1 in their most recent ODI series at home. This tour is England's final set of fixtures before the T20 World Cup kicks off in the UAE on October 3.
The squads named for the Ireland tour contains several new faces, with a total of seven uncapped players across the squads. This set includes the likes of Charis Pavely, Paige Scholfield and Seren Smale.
Kate Cross will captain both teams, and will be bolstered in the fast-bowling department by the return of Mahika Gaur for the T20 leg of the tour. Gaur had missed the home series against New Zealand, as well as The Hundred, with a side strain.
Director of England Women's Cricket Jonathan Finch was upbeat about the tour, saying, "The squad has an exciting mix of experienced international players, those that are returning to a squad having played previously and those yet to take their first steps on the international stage. This is a strong squad made up of many players that have grown from being part of a strengthening domestic game.
"The growing complexity and challenges of managing year-round playing calendars for our international players presents an opportunity for those that have been pushing for selection to be challenged on the international stage.
“It’s always a special moment to see players make their debut and seven could do so on this tour.”
