Having resumed the second day of the Test match at 410-7, India were bowled out for 428. The innings consisted of four fifties, none of which made it to 70, and a 49. For England, Lauren Bell returned 3-67 and Sophie Ecclestone 3-91.

In response, England were in trouble at 126-4, but Nat Sciver-Brunt was past her fifty, while Amy Jones had put a couple of balls away to the fence.

At this point, Deepti Sharma came to bowl at Jones. The ball was short of a length, and Jones middled the flick-pull. There was nothing wrong with the choice of shot, but it pinged forward short-leg Smriti Mandhana on the helmet before she could react and lobbed in the air, only for leg-slip Shafali Verma to complete an easy catch.

The wicket triggered a collapse, as England lost six wickets for ten runs in six overs to be bowled out for 136. India batted again, and were 186-6 at the time of writing. At the crease were Harmanpreet Kaur (44) and Pooja Vastrakar (17). They lead by 478.
