India will host England in a five-match T20I series from January 22. Here are the full squad lists for the series, including injury updates and replacements.

After getting over the disappointment of the 2024-25 Border Gavaskar Trophy where India’s hopes of qualifying for the 2023-25 World Test Championship Final were dashed by Pat Cummins’ side, the Men in Blue will now face England in a 5-match T20I series at home.

On the other hand, England will come into the series on the back of a morale-boosting Test series win against New Zealand preceded by the 3-1 T20I series win against West Indies away from home.

IND vs ENG 2025 T20Is: Team news

Axar Patel has been elevated to T20I vice-captaincy for the T20I series, underlining his importance to the Indian white-ball squad after the all-rounder did not play any of the red-ball games against New Zealand and Australia.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Shami has made the return to the Indian side after a 14 months out through injury as Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel, and Harshit Rana also return to the side. These five will replace the quintet of Avesh Khan, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Ramandeep Singh, Jitesh Sharma, and Yash Dayal from the squad that defeated South Africa in their own backyard in November.

Riyan Parag was ruled out of the South Africa T20Is due to a chronic right shoulder injury and while the Rajasthan Royals all-rounder returned to the nets late in December 2024, he was not deemed fit enough to make the Indian squad.

For England, there are multiple changes from the squad that defeated West Indies 3-1 in 2024 as Jordan Cox, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Jafer Chohan, John Turner, Dan Mousley, and Reece Topley make way for Jamie Smith, Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Mark Wood, and Gus Atkinson.

After being named Men’s Young Player of the Year and earning the central contract, Jamie Smith is expected to be handed his maiden T20I cap on the tour of India as the wicket-keeper batter continues to improve his stocks in international cricket.
