Watch: Harry Brook brought up his maiden Test hundred in glorious style, driving to the off-side fence to reach the landmark off 80 balls.

The century was England’s third-fastest in Test history and their fastest overseas.

Brook came in after an already record-breaking day for England, with all of the top three recording rapid centuries, but the Yorkshireman quickly setting about showing his more senior colleagues how it was done.

The T20 World Cup winner played all manner of wonderful strokes on his way to three figures, including hitting six fours in an over off part-timer Saud Shakeel, but he saved perhaps his most classical for the milestone moment. Naseem Shah bowled the ball on a full length outside off stump, allowing Brook to lean into a textbook cover drive.

The 23-year-old, playing his second Test innings, soon realised the ball was headed inexorably to the rope and began to celebrate, removing his helmet and smiling broadly. He will resume on the second day on 101, with a monumental score in his sights.
