Watch: Abrar Ahmed continued his stellar start to his Test career, picking up Ben Stokes with a wonderful googly which left even the batter stunned.
Abrar picked up the first seven wickets of England’s first innings to announce himself on the international stage in style. The spinner had dismissed Joe Root with a turner, and then came back to get another big scalp, dismissing England skipper Stokes with a googly that spun in sharply.
Abrar, who was hit for a six and a four by Stokes in his previous over, changed to bowl a leg-stump line thereafter. He started by bowling two straighter deliveries to Stokes in the 43rd over of the innings before slipping in a googly. Pitched on the leg stump, the ball spun in sharply, beating Stokes’ forward defence before it rattled his off-stump behind.
Stokes was left stunned as he departed for a quick 30 off 38 balls. England were bowled out for 281, with Abrar picking up 7-114.
