Watch: James Anderson, the most successful seamer in Test history, switched to left-arm spin in the nets during England’s practice session in Multan on the eve of the second England-Pakistan Test.
Anderson, who has so far picked up 672 Test wickets with his right-arm pace, casually switched arms and bowled spin during a net session Thursday, December 8, a day ahead of the start of the second Test. Bowling in shades, shorts and a cap to highlight the informality of the entire exercise, Anderson sent down some loopy, slow left-arm spin in a video posted by Test Match Special on Twitter.
Much like his pace-bowling action, Anderson’s rhythmic left-arm spin looked smooth and fluid, complete with a short, easy run-up and a classic round-arm action that made for an overall pleasant sight. “Too smooth,” was the general consensus by fans on Twitter.
Maybe, just maybe, England could be looking to shore up their slow-bowling resources on a ground where five out of six five-wicket hauls have been claimed by spinners.
Anderson, 40, is set to play his 177th Test match in Multan. Only Sachin Tendulkar has more Test appearances. England currently lead the series 1-0, having won the first of the three games in Rawalpindi.

I would now like to see every England player switch-hitting or switch-bowling. For science. https://t.co/KrzwvZYtYG
