Watch: Jos Buttler continued his imperious form in white-ball cricket with an unbeaten 86 in the third ODI against the Netherlands, finishing with the Player of the Series award at the end of the game in Amstelveen.
Standing in as captain for the injured Eoin Morgan for the final match of the series, Buttler clanked five sixes and seven fours on his way to the unbeaten knock, combining with centurion Jason Roy to hunt down the target of 245 within 31 overs.
One of those five sixes was a monstrous hit over deep square-leg, off a Paul van Meekeren bouncer that went wrong: the ball bounced mid-way down the pitch, slipping way down the leg side, and bouncing again before Buttler pounced on it, sending it deep into the stands.
To make matters worse for the bowling team, it was deemed as a no-ball, leading to a free hit for Buttler. The stand-in skipper didn’t let the opportunity go, smashing another six off the extra delivery.
Buttler ended with 86 off 64, having hit a career-best 70-ball 162* in the first game that paved the way for England’s score of 499, the highest total ever in an ODI.
