The three-match series will be the first one-day bilateral series between the two teams. They have met only thrice before, in World Cup fixtures, ranging back to 1996, 2003, and 2011 editions. England won all three matches.
The hosts will be led by Pieter Seelaar: the retirements of Ryan ten Doeschate, Stephan Myburg, and Ben Cooper have depleted the side, but there are still a number of experienced players in the squad. Tom Cooper is all set to play his first ODI for Netherlands in nine years, having played the last of his 41 games in 2013.
England, led by Eoin Morgan, will have a specialist white-ball team for the series, given the Test series against New Zealand that’s concurrently in play. Mark Alleyne and Neil Killeen, both ex-cricketers, have joined the England coaching staff for the one-dayers, helping Matt Mott, the coach of England’s white-ball side. The England side has two uncapped players in the setup – Luke Wood and David Payne.
The England team were due to arrive in the Netherlands on Tuesday, a few days ahead of the first game. All matches will be held at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen.
