After a thumping win against England by an innings and 64 runs in Dharamshala, India pipped New Zealand at the top of the WTC points table. Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav starred for the hosts in the last fixture with bowling figures of 5-72 and 2-40. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 712 runs at 89.00, ended with the most runs in the series and won the Player of the Series award.
This was India’s fourth straight Test victory after going down in the series opener in Hyderabad by 28 runs. With six wins and a draw from nine matches, the table toppers have currently accumulated 74 points.

For reference, each win hands a team 12 points, while a draw gives four points. In case of a tie, each team receives six points. Teams are then sorted by points won per points contested (PCT).
India’s PCT grew from 64.58 to 68.51, helping them to secure the top spot.
For England, the loss meant a drop in their PCT, which has now nosedived further. At 17.50, they are now eighth on the table, just above bottom-placed Sri Lanka who do not have any points from their two games.
The last time England won more than one Test in a series in India was back in 2012, when they famously beat them 2-1 at home.
So far in the 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle, England have won three fixtures out of 10, having played the second-most fixtures (10) in the cycle, after Australia (11).
