Watch: Ben Stokes completed a remarkable boundary save to stop six in the second Australia-England T20I.

Stokes has struggled with the bat in the series so far, but a spectacular fielding effort highlighted his all-round value to England.

The moment came in the 12th over of Australia’s chase of 179 to win. With the required run rate having crept up over 10 runs an over, Mitchell Marsh launched Sam Curran down the ground, with the shot seemingly destined to fly over the rope.

However, Stokes, stationed at long-off, intervened in stunning style. He leapt up and backwards, catching the ball at full stretch before releasing it back in play just before he landed over the rope himself. He quickly regained his feet and chased down the ball, throwing it in quickly to keep the batting pair to two runs.

Stokes is no stranger to awe-inspiring fielding displays, with his effort carrying echoes of the catch he took in the opening game of England’s 2019 Cricket World Cup campaign, immortalised by Nasser Hussain’s “You cannot do that” commentary line.
