Watch: In what was otherwise a miserable day with the bat for the visitors, England No.10 Jack Leach took on Nathan Lyon towards the end of the innings, hitting him for a straight six during the third Ashes Test in Melbourne.

When Leach walked out to bat, England had lost eight wickets for 159 runs, with Jonny Bairstow, the side’s second-highest run-scorer with 35, departing soon before his arrival at the crease. Along with Ollie Robinson, Leach gave England a brief push at the end, taking them past the 175-run mark on the opening day of the Test.
Off the third ball of the 62nd over, Leach, on seeing a floated delivery on the off-stump, ran down the pitch, smashing a six down the ground and onto the sightscreen in a rare display of aggression. It was only the second six of the innings, and the second of Leach’s Test career.
One over later, though, Lyon had the last laugh, dismissing Leach for his second wicket of the day. England eventually folded for 185 all out. Australia, in response, ended the day in firm control, having raced to 61-1 by stumps.
