The latest edition of the Duleep Trophy ended with India A being crowned the champions, while India C ended as runners-up. Here’s Wisden’s team of the tournament for the Duleep Trophy 2024.
Abhimanyu Easwaran
309 runs @ 77.25
Two hundreds; HS: 157*
The India B captain is one of the two batters to finish the season with two tons, ending the season as the second-highest run-scorer (309). Easwaran carried his bat with a 286-ball 157 against India C, taking his side to 332 in response to the opposition’s 525. Another century, a 170-ball 116, came in a losing cause against India D.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
232 runs @ 38.66
Two fifties; HS: 62
Despite no big scores for the runners-up skipper, there were plenty of vital contributions. Against India D, Gaikwad set up his team’s successful chase of 233 in the fourth innings with a 48-ball 46, slamming eight fours. The blazing cameo was followed by 58 and 62 in a drawn fixture against India B.
Ricky Bhui
359 runs @ 71.80
Two hundreds, one fifty; HS: 119*
With 359 runs at an average of 71.80, the Andhra Pradesh batter finished as the tournament’s highest run-getter. Representing India D in the third round, Bhui made an unbeaten 124-ball 119. His other hundred (113) came in a daunting run chase against India A earlier. However, it went in vain as no other batters contributed significantly, with his side losing the match by 186 runs.
Baba Indrajith
196 runs @ 49
Two fifties; HS: 78
Indrajith starred with a 149-ball 72 in India C’s victory in the low-scoring encounter against India D. He followed that up with another 78 versus India B, playing a hand in notching up the highest team score (525) this season, a batting effort headlined by Ishan Kishan’s 111 off 126.
Shashwat Rawat
256 runs @ 85.33
One hundred, two fifties; HS: 124
Baroda's Shashwat Rawat played a decisive hand in India A winning the title. Coming in to bat with his side at 17-3 against India C, Rawat’s marathon 124 off 250 balls rescued India A to 297. He also scored a 53 in the second innings. Despite not playing the first round, he finished as the tournament's third-highest run-scorer. The left-hander boasts a first-class average of just under 51 and is coming off a 784-run season in the Ranji Trophy.
R Ashwin has overtaken Courtney Walsh to take eighth place on the overall Test wicket takers list.

Sanju Samson
196 runs @ 49
One hundred; HS: 106
After not being part of the tournament initially, Samson was announced as an injury replacement for India D. He flopped in the second round but was quick to turn things around against India B in the next. The Kerala star Samson hit his maiden first-class hundred in over five years after smashing 106 in 101.
Shams Mulani
141 runs @ 47, One fifty; HS: 89
Seven wickets @ 34.71; ER: 3.61
Batting first, India A were reeling at 93-5 against India D. With a 187-ball 89, Mulani scripted his team’s comeback. He backed up his batting rescue act with crucial three wickets in the fourth innings to help bowl out India D for 301 during their 488-run chase. The effort earned him the Player of the Match.
Tanush Kotian
121 runs @ 30.25, One fifty; HS: 53
10 wickets @ 22; ER: 2.89
Having come off a Player of the Tournament performance for Mumbai in last year’s Ranji Trophy, the spin-bowling all-rounder was expected to shine. Against India D, Kotian’s 53 helped his side post 290 from 144-6. He picked up 4-73 in the fourth innings to seal a 186-run win for his team. His 3-47 in the last round bowled out India C 132 runs short of the target, cementing India A’s grip on the trophy.
Rahul Chahar
Nine wickets @ 18.66; ER: 4.40
Playing for India B, Chahar was perhaps the most consistent spinner in the competition. In the high-scoring draw against India C, he picked up 4-73 and 2-8. Against India D, he took 3-60, albeit in a losing cause. His variation makes him an ideal choice in the XI.
Arshdeep Singh
13 wickets @ 21; ER: 3.23
Arshdeep made use of the opportunities he got, bolstering his case of a Test call-up, given India are keen on blooding in new left-arm pacers. Defending 372 for India D, he picked up a career-best 6-40 to help his side win against India B by 257 runs in the third round.
Anshul Kamboj
16 wickets @ 17.12; ER: 3.19
Kamboj, playing for India C, was adjudged the Player of the Tournament for 16 wickets at an average of 17.12. His most notable performance, 8-69, came in a high-scoring draw against India B. After starring with the ball in Haryana’s maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy victory last year, the fast-bowling all-rounder’s performance in the competition has elevated his stature for sure.
