Watch: In a Duleep Trophy 2024 match at Bengaluru, Shubman Gill took an excellent catch to restrict Rishabh Pant’s comeback innings in first-class cricket to seven runs.
India B got off to a solid start after India A captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. India B captain Abhimanyu Easwaran fell for 13, but Yashasvi Jaiswal (30) and Musheer Khan took India B to 53-1. Jaiswal fell at this point, and Sarfaraz followed soon after, leaving India B at 67-3.
Rishabh Pant, playing a first-class match for the first time since December 2022, walked out at this point. He picked up a boundary, and took on Akash Deep soon afterwards, lofting the ball straight over the bowler.
Gill, however, ran backwards (and sideways) from mid-off. He covered ground, and as the ball descended, hurled himself on the ground to come up with an excellent catch. Pant walked back for a 10-ball seven.
At the time of writing, India B were 94-7, with Musheer (27) at the crease. The three seamers – Khaleel Ahmed, Akash Deep, Avesh Khan – had taken two wickets apiece.
