Sanju Samson, playing his first Duleep Trophy 2024 match, for India D against India A, played a quick cameo of 40 off 45 balls

Watch: Sanju Samson, playing his first Duleep Trophy match of the season, was at his attacking best during India D's run-chase against India A in Anantapur today (September 15).

India D were given a mammoth target to chase by India A, 488 to be precise. They lost opener Atharva Taide for a duck, but Yash Dubey and Ricky Bhui stitched a 100-run second-wicket partnership to steady the ship.

Samson, who hadn't played in the first round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy, came out to bat at No.6 after skipper Shreyas Iyer was bowled by Shams Mulani for 41.

Samson meant business from the word go, as he stepped out and smashed Tanush Kotian for a boundary down the ground facing just his fifth delivery. Mulani then bore the brunt of Samson's aggression as he stepped out and lofted him over wide long-off for a six, before going in a similar direction against Kotian for his second six of the innings.

The wicketkeeper-batter hit another six and two more boundaries, before he was caught behind off the bowling of Mulani for 40 off 45 deliveries.

Bhui stood tall for India D, making 113 batting at No.3. But they ended up losing the match, being bowled out for 301. Spinners Mulani and Tanush Kotian took seven wickets between them.
