Duleep Trophy 2024 scenarios

The 2024 Duleep Trophy will not have a final, so the league will determine who will win the trophy. Here is how the four teams stack up ahead of the final round, where India A are playing India C, while India B are clashing against India D. Both matches are being played at Anantapur.

Duleep Trophy 2024 points system

The BCCI has not made an official announcement, but the Duleep Trophy points system seems to have followed the Ranji Trophy until now. Assuming that is true, here is what teams earn:

Win by 10 wickets or an innings: 7 points
Win by any other margin: 6 points
Tie: 3 points
Draw but with first-innings lead: 3 points
Draw but without first-innings lead: 1 point
Defeat: 0 point

What does every team need to win the Duleep Trophy?

India A: First things first, they need to win. Seven points (a win by an innings or 10 wickets) will take them to 13, which is something India B can reach with a “normal” win. If India A get six, they will have to hope India B do not win.

India B: Seven points will take them to 14 and six to 13. Either will do it for them if India C do not win outright.

India C: An outright win will give them Duleep Trophy 2024. A first-innings lead against India A will take them to 12. In that case, they will hope India B to not win outright. India C can win even with one point, but for that, they will have to expect India B to score one point or fewer.

India D: They are out of the race.

At the time of writing, India A were 67-5 against India C, while India D were 95-0 against India B.
