The third round of the Duleep Trophy 2024 got underway in Anantapur on September 19. Here are the latest updates from day three.
Washington Sundar shines with the bat, Iyer gets another quick fifty
India B were 210-6 at stumps on day two, trailing India D by 139 runs. No.7 Washington Sundar was left with the unenviable task with batting with the tail, and made his way to 87 before becoming the last man out as his side were knocked over for 282. Left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar polished off the tail to finish with 5-73.
With a 67-run lead, India D then landed themselves in trouble as Devdutt Padikkal, KS Bharat and Nishant Sindhu all departed within the first four overs. But then, in a 75-run stand for the fourth wicket, captain Shreyas Iyer contributed 50 off just 40 balls, (reaching the mark in 37 deliveries) before he was prised out by Mukesh Kumar.

Sanju Samson played in similarly aggressive fashion until he was dismissed for 45. Ricky Bhui became the innings' second half-centurion, and saw his side through to stumps in the company of Akash Sengupta.
Score at stumps, day two: India D 349 (Sanju Samson 106, Navdeep Saini 5-74) & 244-5 (Ricky Bhui 90*, Mukesh Kumar 3-80) vs India B 282 (Abhimanyu Easwaran 116, Saurabh Kumar 5-73). India D lead by 311 runs.
Riyan Parag scores maiden Duleep Trophy half-century
From 216-7 on day two, India C could add just 18 more runs as their innings folded at 234-9. Baba Indrajith, who had retired hurt on Friday, did not return to resume his innings.
India A then put up a solid showing with the bat, as all of their top six went past double figures. Pratham Singh (11) and Tilak Varma (19) went cheaply but the others managed to stitch together partnerships through the day. Riyan Parag, in reserved fashion by his standards, brought up his maiden Duleep Trophy half-century, before being dismissed for 73 off 101 balls.
First-innings centurion Shashwat Rawat also made his way to a half-century, but was out for 53 to Manav Suthar. Kumar Kushagra and Tanush Kotian were unbeaten at stumps.
Score at stumps, day two: India A 297 (Shashwat Rawat 124, Vijaykumar Vyshak 4-51) & 270-6 (Riyan Parag 73, Anshul Kamboj 2-52) vs India C 234-9 (Abishek Porel 82, Aaqib Khan 3-43). India A lead by 333 runs.
