The third round of the Duleep Trophy 2024 got underway in Anantapur on September 19. Here are the latest updates from day two.
Saini takes five, Easwaran scores 116 out of 210
India D started the day at 306-5, with Sanju Samson batting on 89. The wicketkeeper reached his first first-class ton in five years, but his team wasn't able to go past 350, as Navdeep Saini took 5-74. In fact, Saini was involved in each of the five dismissals in the morning, including the run-out of Saurabh Kumar.
India D finished on 349 and were on the money with the ball straight away, with Arshdeep Singh removing Narayan Jagadeesan in the sixth over. Captain Abhimanyu Easwaran stood firm at one end even as he watched his partners come and go one by one. Musheer Khan and Suryakumar Yadav were both dismissed for five as India B slipped to 100-5.
Washington Sundar then stuck around with Easwaran, as the duo added 105 for the sixth wicket. Easwaran reached his second consecutive hundred before being dismissed for 116. India B finished on 210-6, with Arshdeep picking three of the six wickets.

Prasidh, Avesh shine with bat, Porel rescues India C
In the other game, the India A lower order had a bit of fun in the morning session. Starting the day on 224-7, Avesh Khan (51 off 68) and Prasidh Krishna (34 off 39) helped take their team to 297. Vijaykumar Vyshak was the pick of the bowlers for India C, taking 4-51, while the hero of the last round, Anshul Kamboj finished with figures of 3-49.
In response, Aaqib Kan blew away the India C top order, taking the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad (17), Sai Sudharshan (17), and Rajat Patidar (0). Ishan Kishan (5) failed too, before Baba Indrajith (34 off 61), Abishek Porel (82 off 113) and Pulkit Narang (35 off 93) rescued the innings for India C.
Narang was not out on 35, with Vyshak for company as India C finished on 216-7. Shams Mulani took 2-30 to support Aaqib, while Tanush Kotian (1-38) and Avesh (1-52) chipped in too.
