Jacob Duffy, who's enjoyed a breakout year for New Zealand so far, produced a peach to dismiss former England Test opener Alex Lees in a low-scoring Worcestershire v Durham County Championship Division One fixture.
So far in 2025, Duffy has taken 26 wickets for New Zealand across ODIs & T20Is, at 14.92, shooting up to the top of the ICC T20I bowling rankings. With his sights now set on a Test debut, he joined Worcestershire in the County Championship. He took 3-114 & 0-51 against Yorkshire, and 4-39 and 1-98 against Essex: Worcestershire lost by 504 runs and 28 runs respectively.
Opening the bowling alongside Tom Taylor against Durham, Duffy took two wickets in the first innings, cleaning up Alex Lees off an inside edge. He returned later to dismiss No.10 Codi Yusuf, with Durham all out for 136. This came in response to Worcestershire's first-innings score of 162.
It turned out to be a low-scoring game, with Worcestershire bundled out for 81 in their second innings, leaving Durham to chase down 108.
34 wickets fall in two days
They suffered an early setback, with Duffy producing a peach to dismiss Lees, for the second time in the match. Pitched outside off, the ball swung in, zipping past Lees' bat and knocking off his off-stump.
Durham lost three more wickets, but managed to reach the target, with opener Ben McKinney top-scoring with 34 off 58. Only Worcestershire's Henry Nicholls, in the first innings, hit more – scoring 42 off 115. A total of 34 wickets fell inside two days, with no batter crossing fifty.
