The third round of the 2025 County Championship was heavily affected by rain. Here's how England's incumbents and hopefuls fared in between the showers.
Matthew Potts
Most of the Durham v Yorkshire fixture was able to play out, but that didn't stop the inevitable conclusion of a draw. Within the four days, Matt Potts had two outings to bowl. He took one wicket in Yorkshire's first innings, that of Dom Bess, and two in the curtailed second innings, with one of his victims being Dawid Malan.
Ben McKinney
Having scored a big century in Durham's previous fixture at Chester-le-Street, Ben McKinney was back down to earth when he was out just six overs into Durham's only innings for six off 20 balls.
Jonny Bairstow
Jonny Bairstow was denied a century on the final day, finishing on 86 not out when the match was called off.
Jordan Cox
While a pair of starts was all that was available for Jordan Cox with the bat, he did find himself filling in as keeper when Michael Pepper was receiving treatment for an injury. In a fairly low-scoring game at Chelmsford, Cox's 32 and 24 turned out to be pretty handful in the 28-run winning margin.
Tom Banton
Banton's struggles since his record-breaking triple century in round one continued at Utilita Bowl, as he was part of a staggering day one collapse which left Somerset 96-7 before rain interrupted proceedings. He wasn't required to bat again as the match was drawn before he could come in in Somerset's second innings.
Jack Leach
There was little on offer for Jack Leach in a damp Southampton. He bowled just five overs in the match without taking a wicket. He did, however, contribute 20 with the bat.
Ollie Robinson
In another strong performance from Sussex at Hove, Ollie Robinson dismissed Rory Burns early doors in Surrey's reply to a first innings score of 435 from the home side. He also dismissed Dan Lawrence after he'd reached his century.
Ollie Pope
Following a low-key start to the summer, England's vice-captain found some rhythm with an attacking century – only his second in the Championship away from The Oval. There were 11 boundaries in his innings, but he was dismissed just two balls after reaching three figures by Jayden Seales.

Gus Atkinson
Gus Atkinson's first Championship outing of the season was a productive one, yielding four wickets in the first innings. However, he went wicketless on day one and bowled seven no balls, bowling with good pace and at one point hitting Tom Haines on the helmet with a sharp bouncer.
Josh Tongue
Back in Nottinghamshire's side as he flits in and out to manage his workload, Tongue could only watch in the first innings of the match as Brett Hutton and Fergus O'Neill took all 10 wickets between them. He took two wickets before the conditions brought an end to the match in its third innings.
Zak Crawley
Zak Crawley's miserable run of scores continued with a five-ball one in the first innings, dismissed by Graeme van Buuren less than three overs into the game. However, he reached 50 in the second innings in one of the only games in the country that continued into the evening session on the final day, and was unbeaten when a draw was declared.
Tom Hartley
Tom Hartley got through 44 overs as Leicestershire piled on the runs in their only innings. He got fellow England spinner Rehan Ahmed but only after he'd already reached his century, as well as snaring Ben Green before his work with the ball was done.

Saqib Mahmood
Two wickets for Saqib Mahmood as he continued to build up his red-ball workload, bowling 22 overs in Lancashire's only bowling innings.
John Turner
Now two matches into his loan spell at Lancashire, John Turner dismissed both Ian Holland and Louis Kimber before Leicestershire declared.
Rehan Ahmed
One of the stories of last week's round of fixtures was Rehan's promotion up to open. He scored a half-century in the second innings during that match, but rewarded the decision further with his second first-class hundred in Leicestershire's only innings this time around. While his strike-rate was brisk, this was a different kind of innings to his blitz last week, and saw him weather tricky periods, especially in the evening of day two.
Shoaib Bashir
Another wicketless outing for Shoaib Bashir means his bowling average has shot up to over 150, as England's dilemma over their spin lineup for the first Test of the summer grows more pressing by the round.
