The first round of the 2025 County Championship came to an end on Monday (April 7). Here's what the standings look like.
The standout match of the round came at Taunton, where Tom Banton smashed a record-breaking 371 to help Somerset declare at 670-7, only for Worcestershire to bat out 200 overs in the fourth innings to snatch a draw. Skipper Brett D'Oliveira top-scored with 121, spending 406 minutes at the crease.
Three teams across the two divisions – Nottinghamshire in Division 1 and Leicestershire and Derbyshire in Division 2 – registered over 20 points after winning and securing bonus points for both batting and bowling. Somerset's Banton-led innings helped them to third place in Division 1, with the maximum of five bonus batting points.
Kent were the only side to win after batting first, beating Northamptonshire by 145 runs thanks to standout performances from Tawanda Muyeye (72), Jaskaran Singh (4-35) and Keith Dudgeon (7-36).
