Moeen, who had struggled in the first Test of that year’s Ashes series was dropped soon after from the Test side, and decided to momentarily ditch his off breaks for a few dibbly dobblies. In his 33rd over of the four-day game, Moeen switched to some medium pace after Worcestershire seamer Josh Tongue did not take the field after an injury.
Incidentally, it wasn’t the first time Moeen Ali bowled medium pace. In 2018 in the County Championship too, Moeen had resorted to medium pace and even took a wicket.
