He was driven for a crisp boundary off the second ball of the first over of the innings off a half volley, but it didn’t take long for Anderson to find his rhythm under gloomy skies at Emirates Old Trafford. In an opening spell of six overs, he was wicketless, but leaked just 13 runs.

Two overs into his second spell, Anderson was up against Labuschagne, the No.3 ranked batsman in the ICC Test rankings. Four dots later, a peach landed on a fourth stump line and forced Labuschagne to poke at the delivery. The nick carried through to the wicketkeeper to end Labuschagne’s stay at the crease.
