St Lucia Kings won the 2024 Caribbean Premier League, defeating Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final. Here is Wisden’s Team of the Tournament for CPL 2024.

Quinton de Kock (Barbados Royals) – wicketkeeper

12 matches | 453 runs, SR 162, HS: 115, 1 hundred, 2 fifties | Ct: 7, St: 5

Of de Kock’s several belligerent starts, the 68-ball 115 against eventual finalists GAW stands out the most. De Kock hit 28 sixes in the entire edition, of which nine came in that one innings. He followed this with an unbeaten fifty, but his form tailed off a bit towards the end.

Johnson Charles (St Lucia Kings)

12 matches | 452 runs, SR 153, HS: 89, 4 fifties | Ct: 5

Charles played a crucial role in SLK’s maiden CPL win, taking on the bowlers from the onset and allowing Faf du Plessis to ease in. He peaked as the 2024 CPL approached its 'business end', hitting 53, 89, and 79 in three of the last five innings with 17 sixes.

Nicholas Pooran (Trinbago Knight Riders)

11 matches | 504 runs, SR 170, HS: 101, 1 hundred, 2 fifties | Ct: 6, St: 4

A rampant Pooran was on the verge of taking the Eliminator away from BR when the floodlights fiasco took place. The incident knocked TKR out, but Pooran did enough this season to clear anyone else’s season tally by 51 runs – while striking at 170. On another day, TKR might have played in the final.

Shimron Hetmyer (Guyana Amazon Warriors)

13 matches | 402 runs, SR 185, HS: 91, 4 fifties | Ct: 9

If Pooran topped the runs chart, Hetmyer’s 185 was the best strike rate of the season, and his 32 sixes were only three behind Pooran’s tally. He played a significant role in GAW’s top-two finish.

David Miller (Barbados Royals)

10 matches | 268 runs, SR 162, HS: 71*, 2 fifties | Ct: 5

Not many runs for Miller down the order, but as expected, some rapid ones that resulted in BR’s triumphs. He top-scored in BR’s heist in the Eliminator as well as their valiant effort in Qualifier 2. Throughout the tournament, he hit 24 fours and 17 sixes in 165 balls – a boundary hit every four balls.

Kieron Pollard (Trinbago Knight Riders) – captain

11 matches | 235 runs, SR 145, HS: 52*, 1 fifty | 5 wickets @ 16.60, ec 9.22, BBI: 4-38 | Ct: 6

Even at 37, Pollard can still alter the course of matches. Against the ABF, he simply strode out and waltzed his way to a 37-ball 47 when none of his teammates crossed 25. Against SLK, he put up an exceptional display of death bowling to take four wickets and restrict the eventual champions. He still has it in him.

Moeen Ali (Guyana Amazon Warriors)

10 matches | 169 runs, SR 110, HS: 44* | 15 wickets @ 13.33, ec 5.55, BBI: 3-9

Moeen’s batting was a letdown (to be fair, he was shuffled around quite a bit), but he finished as the most economical bowler of CPL 2024. Going into the final, there was a stretch where he went for a run a ball or fewer in four out of five consecutive matches.

David Wiese (St Lucia Kings)

11 matches | 121 runs, SR 168, HS: 43* | 13 wickets @ 19.15, ec 8.34, BBI: 3-43 | Ct: 6

SLK’s unsung hero of the season, Wiese did not top any of the popular charts. At the same time, he finished with the third-most wickets for the franchise as well as the best batting strike rate.

Sunil Narine (Trinbago Knight Riders)

7 matches | 69 runs, SR 157, HS: 38 | 12 wickets @ 12.58, ec 5.80, BBI: 2-13

Only Moeen had a more economical CPL 2024 than Narine, but Narine had the better bowling average of the two, albeit slightly. There was also the occasional Narinesque slog, especially against SKNP.

Noor Ahmad (St Lucia Kings)

12 matches | 22 wickets @ 13.22, ec 6.19, BBI: 3-18

Not only was Noor the leading wicket-taker of CPL 2024, but he finished with five scalps more than anyone else. His 3-19 was the decisive spell of the final as well. Not many would have grudged his Player of the Tournament award.

Alzarri Joseph (St Lucia Kings)

12 matches | 16 wickets @ 21.75, ec 8.25, BBI: 4-22 | Ct: 5

The fire to Noor’s ice at SLK, Joseph was their second-highest wicket-taker. He provided breakthroughs at regular intervals, and was especially devastating in the league game where he took 4-22 to restrict BR to 96-9.
