Watch: In a nail-biting run-chase, Guyana Amazon Warriors' Dwaine Pretorius sealed the second match of CPL 2024 with a six against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons yesterday (August 30).

The match went down to the wire, with four requiring off the final ball for the Warriors to win. No.8 batter Pretorius was striking the ball well, batting then on 14 off nine balls, including three fours off the last four balls against Mohammad Amir.

In came the left-arm fast-bowler to bowl the final delivery. Amir tried to stay away from Pretorius’ hitting arc and bowled a wide line. However, it was a half volley, and with Pretorius throwing the kitchen sink at it, meant the ball sailed way over long off for a massive six.

The Warriors had a jailbreak. At one point, they needed 16 off the last over. It was Pretorius’ cameo that took them home. After the winning hit, his teammates ran in celebration, hugging him.

With the ball earlier, he took 1-33 off his four overs, including a wicket of dangerous Fakhar Zaman, who was looking good before being dismissed for 40 off 33.
