Kieron Pollard, who hit four sixes in five balls to win a CPL 2024 match on Tuesday night

Captaining the TKR, Kieron Pollard elected to put the St Lucia Kings in to bat first. After a quick start from Faf du Plessis and Johnson Charles, Roston Chase (56*) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (33) put on 80 for the fourth wicket, taking the Kings to 187-6.

In reply, TKR made full use of the Powerplay overs as the scored 72-2 to get ahead of the asking rate. But through the middle overs, they lost their star Nicholas Pooran for 17 and set batter Shaqkere Parris for 57. The Kings managed to tie down Keacy Carty before eventually getting him for a 22-ball 15.

Pollard was on 28 off 13 balls when the 19th over began, with TKR needing 27 more runs off 12 balls and the match still in the balance. Pacer Matthew Forde got his yorker right on the first delivery. On the second, he erred on the short side and Pollard swatted the ball over long on for six.

Forde managed to bowl another good yorker on the third ball, but Pollard effectively seal the deal for his side off the next three. He dispatched a good-length ball outside off over square leg, a full delivery over long off, and another overpitched ball straight past the bowler.

With the equation down to three runs from six balls, Akeal Hosein hit a four off the first ball of the final over to end the game. Pollard finished on an unbeaten 52 off just 19 deliveries, hitting zero fours and seven sixes.

Last month, Pollard had stolen the headlines in similar fashion when he walloped Rashid Khan for five sixes in five balls in The Hundred.
