Sydney Thunder took on Hobart Hurricanes in the final of the 14th season of the league. Batting first, Sydney posted 182-7, with the opposition needing a record final chase to win the trophy.

Opening the innings, Owen raced to 25 in his first nine balls after the first two overs of the innings went for 23 and 17. He brought up his fifty in just 16 balls before converting it into triple figures. It was his second T20 hundred, having converted all his fifties into triple digits, having also made a ton earlier in the competition.

His hundred in the final came in just 39 balls, the fastest in the BBL in the last ten years.
