The 2024/25 Big Bash League started on December 15. Here’s the updated 2024/25 BBL points table, including matches won, lost and the net run-rate of each team.
What's the format of BBL 2024/25?
The 14th edition of the BBL will be played between December 15 and January 25 next year. There will be 40 matches during the group stage followed by the playoffs in the IPL format, in which the top four sides will make it to the knockouts. The top two sides will get the opportunity to qualify for the summit clash twice.
Which are the teams participating in BBL 14?
Eight teams – Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder – will be vying for the trophy.
While the Heat will enter the competition as the defending champions, Scorchers, the most successful side in the tournament, will be aiming to add to their five titles.
Scorchers clinch season opener
Scorchers were off to a great start in the opening match of season 14 in Perth by beating Stars quite comfortably. The win was set up by Jhye Richardson, who restricted the visitors to 146-9 with his 3-19. In response, they gunned down with six wickets and 17 balls remaining. Cooper Connolly top-scored with 64, while captain Ashton Turner (37*) and Nick Hobson (27*) stayed till the end to see their side home.
