Bangladesh’s No. 11 batter Nahid Rana saw his Test average plummet further after recording a duck on Day 1 (April 20) of the first Test against Zimbabwe in Sylhet.
After Bangladesh, batting first, lost both openers – Mahmudul Hasan Joy (14) and Zakir Hasan (12) – early, Mominul Haque partnered with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto to steady the innings. Shanto fell for 40, leaving the hosts 98-3, but a dramatic collapse saw Bangladesh lose their last seven wickets for just 68 runs. They were eventually bowled out for 191, with Blessing Muzarabani and Wellington Masakadza leading Zimbabwe’s charge with three wickets each.
Nahid Rana, batting at No. 11, was the last to depart, dismissed for a duck by Wesley Madhevere. Mominul (56 off 105 balls) finished as Bangladesh’s top scorer in a disappointing batting display. While Rana has emerged as Bangladesh’s fast-bowling sensation, his contributions as a tailender remain virtually nonexistent in his nascent career, succumbing to his fifth duck in just 11 innings.

Worst Test batting averages in history (Minimum 10 innings)
Nahid's fifth duck of his career dropped his batting average to 2.16, the third worst for a Test player who has batted in a minimum of 10 innings. Of the 13 runs Nahid has managed till now in 11 innings, 11 came against Jasprit Bumrah during Bangladesh's tour of India last year.
The unwanted record is held by Afghanistan's left-arm wrist spinner Zahir Khan, who only possesses an average of 1.6 after 11 innings. He is followed by former Zimbabwe fast bowler Pommie Mbangwa, whose batting average exactly stands at 2, having batted 25 times.
