The series opener is from Monday (October 21) to Friday (October 25) in Mirpur, Dhaka. The second and final Test will be played between Tuesday (October 29) and Saturday (November 2) in Chattogram.

After being named in the Bangladesh squad for his farewell match in Dhaka, Shakib Al Hasan made himself unavailable for the fixture due to protests against him amid political unrest. Uncapped left-arm spinner Hasan Murad replaced the all-rounder. Pacer Khaled Ahmed, who was part of the two-match Test tour of India, was omitted.
South Africa recalled all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy to their 15-member squad. Muthusamy, 30, played the last of his three Tests against West Indies in 2023. He joined Keshav Maharaj and Dane Piedt in the spin department. Uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Breetzke, who toured the West Indies during their 1-0 series win, was also included and made his debut in the first game.
Temba Bavuma was ruled out of the first Test due to an injury, with Aiden Markram leading the side. With Nandre Burger earlier ruled out due to a lumber stress reaction, the tourists have added Dewald Brevis and Lungi Ngidi to the squad.
