Fariha Trisna, who replaced Sultana Khatun in the Bangladesh XI for the second T20I at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, had a memorable outing as she finished with career-best figures of 4-19. Trisna, who started with the new ball, conceded 13 in her first three overs and got the wicket of Phoebe Litchfield in the third over of the innings.
She then bowled the 20th over of Australia’s innings. The visitors were 155-5 at the stage with Ellyse Perry on strike. Perry scored six runs off the first two balls before she was dismissed for 29 by Trisna, who also sent back Molineux and Mooney with the last two balls of the innings.
It was Trisna’s second T20I hat-trick, after the one against Malaysia in her debut game in 2022. She became only the third bowler from an ICC Full Member nation to pick up multiple hat-tricks, after Lasith Malinga and Tim Southee, and the first woman. Trisna is also the third Bangladesh woman with an international hat-trick, after Rumana Ahmed and Fahima Khatun.
Only 21, Trisna is also only the second bowler to pick up a hat-trick against Australia Women in T20Is, after New Zealand’s Anna Peterson, who achieved the feat in 2017. Her efforts, however, went in vain as Bangladesh ended up losing by 58 runs to concede the three-match series.
