Mohammad Rizwan, newly named Pakistan’s ODI skipper, equalled the world record for most catches in a men’s ODI during his side’s game with Australia today (November 8).

The second ODI played at Adelaide saw the hosts get bowled out for 163, with Haris Rauf picking up 5-29. No batter from Australia could cross 35 runs, with Steve Smith being the only player to make more than 20.

Rizwan also played a part in the dismissals, grabbing onto six catches behind the stumps, a world record. Seven of the ten wickets that fell were caught by fielders, with Babar Azam being the other player to take a catch in the innings, sending back Matthew Short in the seventh over.

Three batters had ‘c Rizwan b Rauf’ beside them on the scorecard - Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne and Aaron Hardie. Rizwan also accounted for the catches of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Steven Smith.
