Sam Konstas became the youngest Australian opener to hit a Test fifty

In the Boxing Day Test match at Melbourne, teenager Sam Konstas became the youngest Australian opener to hit a Test fifty.

In the fourth Test of the five-match series, debutant Konstas – the youngest to open batting for Australia in Test cricket – slammed an astonishing 60 against India. His innings included some outrageous strokes, including two sixes off Jasprit Bumrah.

Konstas is now the youngest Australian opener to score a Test fifty. At 19 years 85 days, he is 64 days younger than Archie Jackson, who was 19 years 149 days when he made his famous 164 against England at Adelaide in 1928-29.

Konstas is also the second-youngest to score a Test fifty for Australia from any position: Ian Craig was 17 years 239 days old when he made 53 against South Africa at Melbourne in 1952-53.
