Australia beat India in a nail-biting finish to the MCG Test to strengthen their position in the top two of the World Test Championship points table.

Having set India a target of 340, Australia started well with the ball on day five, pegging India back to 33-3 by lunch. Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal brought India back in the game, going through the second session wicketless, before Australia turned the tide post tea.

Travis Head got Pant caught off a long hope, setting off a collapse. Jaiswal was given out in controversial manner, as India slipped to 140-7 after being 121-3 at one stage.

The tailenders tried to hang around with Washington Sundar but the Australian seamers were too good, leading the hosts to victory by 184 runs. With the win, Australia went 2-1 up in the series.It's the first time in 12 years that Australia have beaten India at the MCG.
