India and Australia played out a rain-hit draw at the Gabba, affecting both team's chances of improving their position in the World Test Championship standings.
India elected to field first on day one of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, but only 13.2 overs of play were possible on that day.
Day two was largely uninterrupted, and Australia made their way to 405-7 after centuries from Steve Smith (101) and Travis Head (152). They were eventually bowled out for 445 on day three, before India made their way to 51-4.

Day four saw more interruptions due to rain, but India made their way to 252-9 by the close of play, successfully avoiding the follow-on thanks to a gritty last-wicket stand between Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep.
Their innings folded for 260 on day five, before Australia went after quick runs and declared at 89-7 in the second session. India needed 275 to win from a maximum of 54 overs, and were 8-0 in 2.1 overs when bad light forced the players off the field. Tea was taken, and a shower during the interval meant the sides shook hands on a draw. The series is level at 1-1 after three out of five Tests.
